About 24 Hours To Memorize This Poem...HELP!!!!?

The poem is:

"I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud"

I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the milky way,

They stretched in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:

Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they

Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:

A poet could not but be gay,

In such a jocund company:

I gazed---and gazed---but little thought

What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;

And then my heart with pleasure fills,

And dances with the daffodils.

How can I memorize this quick???

I would like to get the memorization over with for school...Please help

About 24 Hours To Memorize This Poem...HELP!!!!?
break it down - do one stanza at a time.

write it out by hand (you will then be forming a physical memory). read each line outloud, then say it without looking at it. This is most effective when you have someone to work with. If you have a friend or family member who can read you a line or two and have you repeat it back, that's great. If not, do it yourself.

Add lines as you get comfortable with what you've memorized thus far. Then put the whole thing away, come back to it an hour or so later and see what you remember. Wherever you get blocked, repeat the steps for that section.

best of luck
Reply:Step one: fine the 'off' button for your computer

Step two: use it.

Step three: memorize poem!
Reply:When ever me and friends have to memorize long poems such as this. We make rap songs out of them. It really helps you to memorize. I hope I was able to help you.
Reply:Break it down into a simple prose first.Break it up into sections, which will make it easier to memorise.try doing first two stanzas then the remaining two.

1.try memorising first stanza thoroughlt before preceeding onto 2nd, then combine two in one sitting.

2. Continue practice with 3rd %26amp; 4th repeat,steps 1 for full poem

3. by breaking down into simple story will also help in memorising poem.Example first is an analagy of a lone cloud floating over hills %26amp; valleys,

when you saw a crowd,

golden daffodills,beside a lake

beneath the trees

4. 2nd line is about the stars %26amp; milky way

5. the waves

6.being alone in a pensive mood

fluttering and dancing in the leaves

I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on .... vales and hills,

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the milky way,

They stretched in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:

Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

Tossing their ............. heads ....................... in sprightly dance

I cut out this line "high o'er"

as its distracting and hard which doestn really add to the poem
Reply:okay, well first of all ur wasting ur time right now.

all u can do is star memorizing it paragraph by paragraph. dont just memorize the words, try to understand what its trying to tell you so it would become easier
Reply:"Some people are a lot like slinkies. Not good for much of anything, but it still brings a smile to your face when they're pushed down a flight of stairs."
Reply:Ohmagosh...this brings back memories. In University I used to stay up all night before my essay exams memorizing word for word answers to all possible questions which was way more than this. I'm talking pages of information so I know that this is doable. What you need to do it take it one line at a time. Read the line, repeat the line over and over until you feel you have it. I found it helpful to close my eyes and envision the words spelled out in my mind. Once I have the first line, I'd memorize the next line the repeat the two lines together while you see them in your mind. You do this for each line, adding each line as you go, until you can get through the entire poem in your head. It will take several hours, but it is possible if you want to do it.

Best of luck to you.

Good Luck
