How do I deadhead daffodils?

When I deadhead my daffs, do I take off the little bulbous bit behind the flowerhead, or just the flowerhead?

How do I deadhead daffodils?
Pull any dead flowers and seed heads off, don't touch the leaves, don' tie them in a loop or bend them over to tidy things up, all you Will do is break the leaves and stop any nutrients from going back into the bulb. Give the daffodils a liquid feed of general purpose plant food and allow to die back naturally and you will have a beautifull show of flowers next year.

Reply:Cut the stalk down low to make it look neater. Deadheading is just removing spent flowers so that the plant does not put its energy into making seeds but instead into producing more flowers.
Reply:Just cut off the flower stem whereever you want, doesn't matter. Just make sure and leave the foliage to nourish the bulb before it goes dormant. Also use some bone meal or a good liquid fertilizer to boost the bulbs for next year.
Reply:I think you can take off as much of the flower and stalk as you wish.

Cut them off at 12 inches and place the flowers in a vase.

Just dont cut off the other leaves until they turn very brown. The browning and wilting of the major leaves is necessary for next year's bulb development.
