My photography assignment is about people who have gone through cancer...is the daffodil a symbol for cancer?
Thanks.
Doing a photography assignment, could you answer this?
Apparently so:
"As the first flower of spring, the daffodil is a symbol of hope. To the American Cancer Society, it represents the hope we all share for a future where cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease."
Reply:Your subjects should know the answer to that.
The American Cancer Society has a logo that is a stylistic sword

And the Canadian Cancer Society is a flower.

My guess is that each country has adopted a different symbol for their organizations.
Reply:Ace, I took the ACS logo to be a modified cadeucus.
The answer above(Chaz) with the link says that the daffodil is a symbol of HOPE and not a symbol of cancer, if you want to get picky about it. Bear that in mind if you use the daffodil in your images.
Reply:Yes...definitely.... And if you plan to use photo elements, use the daff as a backdrop at 25% transparency.
Reply:The daffodil is an important symbol of the Canadian Cancer Society/.
Reply:Here in the UK the daffodil is the symbol for Wales.
