How do I protect my daffodils from cold weather ?

The daffodils are up about 3 to 4 inches due to unusually warm weather this winter. What can be done to protect them when we get snow later next week?

Don't do a thing. The snow will act as an insulator. They will come up as usual. It happens here all the time.
Reply:I agree with Debs.
Reply:Don't do anything to try to help your bulbs from succumbing to the cold after coming up prematurely. They probably won't flower until the appropriate time, but the foliage that comes up early can be damaged and look ratty in spring. It's just a condition of gardening...good years and bad.
Reply:build a small greenhouse for them. if they need heat or light use a wireless heater and wireless light.

What you can do is or what you should have done is dig them up put them in a pot keep them warm inside keep them watered, ready for next year. Plants grow if the weather is warm. If they need shade cover them also.

Reply:I am leaving them to fend for themselves, but if you must do SOMETHING, put a light pile of pine tags or straw over them to the height of the leaves. At this stage, the cold should not do them harm and trapping in excess moisture very well may.
Reply:They look after themselves. If it turns cold ,they just stop growing till it warms up again.
Reply:dig them out and make sure you get the roots then put them in a pot if they were in the ground and keep them inside.
