Staying power of daffodils?

I love daffodils in my garden, but I'd love to be able to keep them in a vase for longer than they actually last in my house. How can I keep my daffodils from drying up and getting brown as quickly as they are doing?

put a little sugar in the water
Reply:So let me clarify you are cutting the daffodils and putting them in water in a vase right? If this is the case then they have floral preserve. This will keep them alive for a longer period of time. Its the same thing that a lot of floral shops give out with roses on valentines day.

Reply:Cut the blooms before they have opened. Put sugar or floral preserve in the water and dont put the vase in a sunny location. You can cut the blooms as soon as they have a little tinge of yellow and look like they will open in a couple of days. The blooms will continue to open in the vase. You can do the same thing with lilies. This should give you at least 4 more days of blooming in the vase.
