My favourite flowers are daffodils, and plan on attempting to hold my weddings when I can get ahold of them in season.
Did anyone use daffodils in their arrangements, or as their main flower? How did they hold up throughout the day? Did you use a particular vendor or get them yourselves?
Where you happy with them?
Did anyone use daffodils as flowers?
Daffodils need to be treated carefully when mixed with other flowers because they secret a substance that is toxic to other flowers and causes them to wilt quickly. A florist will best be able to advise you on this.
Also, I don't think they hold up well in the heat, so it's best not to try to use them for a summer wedding, or even a late spring wedding.
Here are some other ideas:
Use potted daffodil plants as table centerpieces. They are less expensive than having a flower arrangement done and can serve a dual purpose. Allow your wedding attendants to take them home after the reception as a thank you gift.

Reply:I agree, daffodils are beautiful. Plus, being one of the first signs of Spring, they are very apropos for the beginning, or "spring" of a married life. But, alas, they don't hold up well at all. If you kept them refrigerated right up till the time of the ceremony, you might pull it off?
Reply:I pick them every year, and they last at least a week or more.
Reply:Daffoldils are not weeds, as the first answer you received stated.
They happen to be my favorite flower as well. I have not had them in a wedding, but they hold up great for a few days when I cut them from my garden and put them in vase. They should do just fine for your wedding.
Good Luck on your big day :)
Reply:daffodils are technically weeds, so I do not know how well they will hold up
Ooop Sorry, I was thinking of dandelions
Reply:Yep she was!
Got married in a quickie thing in Reno. already had done that big wedding thing, both of us on our seconds. She loves wildflowers so I found a florist and they had lots of daffodils (which she loves) They lasted a long time and she loved em, so if you like em go for it.
congrats!
Reply:No but sounds pretty!!!
Reply:Yes.
They held up just fine throughout the day.
They were bought directly from a grower in Puyallup or Sumner, Washington (can't remember the name). Had to buy several boxes, but they weren't expensive that way and we had a ton of them. They were everywhere.
They were held in cold storage in the bud stage and had to be taken out and put in water the night before the wedding.
Good luck.
