Searching movie title involving love affair and annual get together in Italy and involves daffodils.?

Am trying to recall a movie title from a film I saw years ago. I may be crossing the story of two movies but I think it ran along the lines of:

Couple reunite on an annual basis in Italy

Male lover gives female Daffodils each year on the anniversary - some significance about the yellow colour and the trumpet shape of the flower

Both have 'other separate life' back home [I think US] and therefore keep this a lover's tryst

This is where I may be confusing stories - I think the female dies in a car accident and daughter comes to retrieve body and discovers mum has had a lover for many years who she meets every year

Mum lied about 'other life' and worked as a florist and did so because did not want to ruin male's marriage

Daughter develops friendship with mum's lover and broadens her mum's 'real life'

I thought this was set in the 50s-60s and involved actors of the Cary Grant/Deborah Kerr quality/ilk

There are a few similar movies out there but none set in Italy
