Another evolution?

did you know that your DNA is 98.5% similar to a chimpanzee? wow that is total proof that we are decended from monkeys. but 50% of our DNA is similar to a fish, oh

that's right we started out as fish too. and we are 25% daffodil!! so i am 98.5% chimpanzee, and 50% fish and 25% daffodil......all right at this very minute. how come i don't have any fins or petals?

Another evolution?
Thinking that you should see fins and petals indicates a poor understanding of biology (or perhaps you were being snide). But what you say is true - all life on this planet is related - humans share genes with all sort of organisms. However it's short sided to believe that we should share the DNA that makes another organism unique (petals and fins). Instead we share the DNA that unifies all life - homeobox genes, the genetic code, a common mechanism for protein synthesis, etc. - the basic stuff for living things. That we share so much more with chimps merely indicates a closer relationship (no petals or fins on them!). The genes held in common with all life evolved quite early and have been conserved, with modification, by all living things - it's what works so it's what stays. There's no doubt that we're all related - God must have wanted it that way.

Evolution, like gravity, is science-based. End of story.
