I bought some bulbs for the garden, not sure what to do with them?

they are daffodils, tulips, crocus, heisynth can i have a step by step guide

my garden has alot of clay so where is the best place and what type of soil . when will they flower

I bought some bulbs for the garden, not sure what to do with them?
1. decide where you want what to grow, remember tulips can grow in shady places, the others not.

2. get yourself a bucket of sand mixed with compost (for where there is clay)

3. dig a hole, big enough for 5-7 bulbs, or several single ones, bulbs should be at least 3 times their diameter apart and at least 3 times their height under the soil, so dig 4 x height deep

4. put a shovel/bit of your mixture of sand and soil in the hole, put bulbs on top, in clay cover them with your mixture, otherwise just fill in hole.

Flowering time depends on your varieties, crocus and daffodils from end of February, tulips and hyacinths from late march

That's basically it, best of luck!
Reply:put them in the groudn. first dig a hole, put in the bulb, cover it with dirt and water periodically. okkk?????????
Reply:First prepare the soil by adding alot of good fertile soil to it. I would get some miracle potting soil and add to the clay.

Then dig your holes. daffodils and tulips need to be 5 to 6 inches deep, hyacyinth's 4-5 inches deep and crocus 4-5 inches deep.

After you did the holes you want to sprinkle a little bone meal in the hole and then put a light coating of dirt over the bone meal because if you just set the bulb on the bone meal the bone meal will burn the bulb.

Next place buls one at a time in each hole until you have all of the holes filled. cover with dirt and water well.

Some people put straw over the planting area to protect from the winter weather. It will be up to you.

good luck. You should have flowers blooming by the middle of march if you plant in the fall.
Reply:I would turn the soil put in a good mulch.Plant the bulbs before the frost sets in.Crocus flower early, make sure you break the clay up.You can also add compost that helps to break down the clay.Try to place bulbs in sunny position.Goodluck
Reply:Any bulb planting you do now is for next Spring. You want to mix your clay with growing soil, but clay is not a bad thing to have for it holds water longer. I would take a walk around my yard and try to envision what colors would be prettiest in any given spot and plant a mixture of bulbs there. You want to have your planting done by Halloween so that they are safely in the ground before the first hard frost. The beauty about b ulbs is that once they are planted..you forget about them. Mother Nature will let them bloom as the weather permits.
Reply:as you have a clay soil put some sand at the bottom of the hole before planting to stop the bulbs from rotting and plant them twice the depth of the bulb and you WILL have a good display next spring happy gardening
Reply:you need to put compost inwith the soil set them about 5 inches apart and 3inches deep they will bloom in the spring good luck
Reply:MAKE A HOLE 2" DEEP , PLANT BULB'S 4" TO 5" APART , WATER , SIT BACK AND WAIT FOR THEM TO GROW IN THE SUMMER , THEN ENJOY
Reply:plant,in,fall,in,sunny,spot,
Reply:dig sum compot in wif da soil n put da bulbs in anyware
Reply:JUST FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS %26amp; THEY WILL BE FINE. ALL OF THOSE WILL DO BEST IN SUNNY SPOTS. WHEN I PLANT BULBS I LIKE TO MIX IN A LOT OF PEET MOSS WITH WHATEVER KIND OF DIRT IT IS I HAVE, IT MAKES FOR GREAT SOIL %26amp; THEY GROW LIKE CRAZY. JUST DIG A LITTLE DEEPER AND FILL WITH YOUR MIXTURE. IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF BULBS YOU CAN MAKE ONE BIG SPOT FOR EACH KIND OF BULB AND MASS PLANT THEM. IT WILL BE EASIER THAN PLANTING EACH TINY LITTLE BULB IN IT'S OWN HOLE %26amp; THEY WILL LOOK NICER %26amp; MORE NATURAL. ALL THAT STUFF WILL BLOOM NEXT SUMMER IF YOU GET THE CORRECT DEPTH AND HAVE THEM POINTED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. HOPE THIS HELPS... HAVE FUN, THEY WILL LOOK GREAT NEXT YEAR.
