What should I plant for summer blooms?

I've got a small (4' x 8') raised bed planter in Zone 6 planted with Daffodils and grape Hyacinths for spring color and mums for fall color. I'd like some ideas for summer bullbs or perennials that would come up after the spring bulbs have finished blooming and that would be ready to be pruned back when the mums start to fill out. Any ideas for something colorful?

There are a bunch!

Verbascum, Geraniums, Day lillys, cone flowers, Dianthus
Reply:cannas. these are blubs. most grow over 36 but dwarf cannas grow only 2 feet. in full sun they will bloom till frost. then after a hard freeze the plant will die. then dig it up and put the blub in your garage or basement until spring
